Position Overview
Seeking a Senior-level, hands-on Quality Assurance Supervisor for a regular full-time position in Burbank. This position oversees quality assurance testing activities in support of major software projects and acts as the back up to Change Manager. The incumbent will ensure all quality assurance goals are met and will be responsible for all software testing on assigned projects.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will implement C&C IT quality assurance practices and procedures on assigned projects. This position will supervise a group of quality assurance analysts responsible for testing, evaluating, and validating IT deliverables and identifying issues and defects in software or services. The position will be a hands-on supervisor where in the candidate will be expected to participate in test activities in addition to serving as the back up to the Change Manager
To be effective, the candidate will require a strong quality assurance and change management background, excellent communication skills (interpersonal, listening, written and oral), be self motivated, organized, thorough and efficient and have demonstrated success working in a similar capacity.
Primary Responsibilites
- Review system requirements, functional design, technical design specifications and other available information
- Determine test approaches and methods - unit, integration, functional, performance, system, security, performance & load, usability tests, etc.
- Ensure appropriate test environments (hardware, software, configuration, versions, communications, etc.) are available.
- Identify testing tasks, those responsible for tasks, and labor requirements; set schedule estimates, timelines and milestones.
- Develop and validate test cases and testing plan; including regression testing
- When appropriate, develop automated testing scripts using target test tools
- Execute tests and report results.
- Track problems/bugs and fixes. Report bugs, create and provide metrics on bugs, resolution turnaround and testing processes, including test cycle times
- Create and manage internal and external release notes
- Maintain and update test plans, test cases, test environment, and testing software through life cycle
- Provide training to others on execution of software testing.
Additional Responsibilities - Change Management
- Act as a backup to the Change Manager and assume responsibility over all change management activities when the Change Manager is not available
- Produce a change management schedule and reporting as needed.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of Software Quality Assurance experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- Experience managing I.T. technical staff
Core Competencies
General IT Knowledge
- Knowledge of industry standard Software Development Life Cycles; Agile experience a plus
- Experience with Microsoft applications (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, and Project).
- Experience with automated testing tools; Eggplant & Mercury a plus.
- Ability to understand and coordinate activities across all aspects of I.T. Quality Assurance and Change Management
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and oversee resources.
- Ability to communicate technical and procedural information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to perform technical tasks and understanding of detailed technical information.
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization.
Testing
- Experience writing test cases from Requirements and Design documents
- Proficiency creating test plans & strategies and thoroughly documenting all work
- Experience leading testing teams on complex testing efforts
- Commercial software product experience preferred
- 3-5 years of QA experience

- Creative problem solver who is extremely well organized and accustomed to maintaining meticulous records
- Effectively plans and organizes daily work and project plans
- Demonstrates strong follow-up and follow-through skills ensuring timely application testing and bug reporting
- Self-starter who actively takes responsibility to determine how to test the application but also knows when to ask questions to avoid major delays in delivery of work product
Communication and Relationship Building
- Good communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a project team
- Ability to maintain a cordial and productive relationship with outside vendors
